MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Scholes is officially out of retirement – for a local non-league club.
The former England star lined-up for Royton Town in their Manchester Premier League game against Stockport Georgians on Saturday.
But 43-year-old’s presence failed to inspire his new team to victory as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
Donning the No8 jersey, Scholes rolled back the years as he starred in central midfield.
And despite not getting on the scoresheet he still managed to leave his opponents in awe.
Georgians tweeted: "Finally! 90 mins of hard graft and discipline from the 1st team sees us come away with the win against @ RoytonTownFC. More than deserved and well overdue.
"The lad in midfield for them is one to look out for in the future though. #scholesy thanks to all that supported today!"
A member of their team also tweeted: "As if I’ve just played against Paul Scholes."

Scholes called time on his glittering career in 2013 after over 700 appearances for Man United and countless honours.
He has since featured in several exhibition matches for Salford City, the National League club he co-owns with other members of the Class of ’92, and has headed down to watch Royton in action numerous times.
